About this item
Details
The protective barrier or skin barrier is the most exposed layer of the skin and is also known by the name of hydrolipidic mantle, an ultra-thin film formed by lipids, which are mostly ceramides.
The skin barrier is made up of cells of the corneal layer and substances that unite these cells (ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids). In other words, it is as if the barrier were a perfect wall. Since the bricks are the cells and the fats are the cement that unites these bricks in the best possible way.
This function of the skin barrier, stabilized and with the appropriate pH, is fundamental for the health of the body, because it is a defense mechanism of the organism, not allowing the penetration of external agents in the skin, retaining harmful substances to which your skin is daily exposed, thus preventing infections and irritations and the microorganisms present on the skin from becoming pathogenic.
For this reason it is important for a veterinary shampoo to have the right constituents, especially since your bigeye loves to rub and roll around in everything that gives you satisfaction.
