If your cat has been newly diagnosed as diabetic, you’ll need the ideal diet to meet their nutritional requirements. Unleash a world of nutrition tailored to your diabetic cat with Royal Canin Veterinary Diabetic Cat.

Royal Canin Veterinary Diabetic Cat is dry food for adult cats with newly-diagnosed Diabetes Mellitus. This food is the first line of nutritional management of diabetes cases until the control of clinical signs and hyperglycemia.

A diabetic cat doesn’t produce enough insulin or cannot use it properly, making the blood glucose (sugar) levels increase. Additionally, eating a meal results in a rise in blood glucose levels. As such, this food has a specific formula with cereals with a low glycemic index and selected fibers to manage post-prandial blood glucose in dogs. Moreover, this recipe contains low starch levels also to help limit post-prandial blood glucose. This glucomodulation results in controlling glucose levels in the blood after meals.

Royal Canin Diabetic features high protein to reduce net energy supply and support muscles in diabetic cats. This food also contains low levels of digestible carbohydrates and moderate fat content to maintain a healthy weight. Lastly, the high levels of antioxidants help to maintain health and vitality.

FAQ

How can I feed Royal Canin food to my pet?

First, when introducing new food to your pet’s diet, make a gradual transition. We recommend you do a transition phase of seven days to avoid dietary issues. Mix a portion of the new food with your pet's current food, gradually increasing the ratio every three days until your pet is fully adapted.

The use of this food may affect your cat’s sensitivity to insulin. As such, when starting this diet, it’s advised to monitor blood glucose and insulin response to adapt insulin dosage.

Make sure your pet always has fresh water available. For better results, you can combine the dry food with the Royal Canin Diabetic wet cat food, which you can feed separately or in the same bowl.

Nevertheless, before use and for further guidance, speak to your vet and follow their advice.
